Deere 450C track adjuster mess

I'm working on my 450C track adjuster. It failed, grease leaked out etc. But when I got apart the seal looked good, just as good as the new one. It appears I have an alignment problem, the shaft is off center and front idler guides are worn so it was cocked. I'm trying to get the shaft out, but it's stuck in the spring. Does it just pull out? The manual isn't very clear on that. The spring is off center, so I figure I need to compress the spring and get it centerered. Am I on the right track?

Yes , It's supposed to pull out.. However , there is a ridge worn into the pipe end of the track adjuster piston assembly that's caught in the spring end cover.. Loader; wrap a chain around the piston and attach the chain to the bucket cutting edge with a c-clamp so the chain doesn't slip off the cutting edge of the bucket, roll the bucket upward so it pulls on the piston and VOILA... The piston should come out.. If a 6 way blade dozer; rotate the blade angle toward the side the adjuster is stuck.. Wrap a chain around the adjuster and the end of the blade, now angle the blade so it pulls out the piston...
