931B steering update

I dropped off my steering valves to get an estimate. $500 for parts and labor. Rollers and lip seals have to come from Spokane so it will take a couple days to get them. They said they had an hour into them to do the estimate. They did need cleaning. Does $500 seem reasonable for both? I think I'm kind of stuck or I'll have to pay an hours labor regardless but just wanted to check if that seems reasonable. If the seals were leaking, would/could that cause loss of steering? I had an oil line burst under the seat before but I wonder if the steering valve(s) didn't have a slow leak that gradually accumulated? It was pretty dirty under the seat and I haven't had a major leak for a few years. Thanks in advance.

Sounds about right these days. Your steering problem was the flat spot caused when the bearing jammed up and wouldn't turn. That worn spot reduced the travel and that reduced the release pressure at the clutch cyl.
