John Deere 1010 crawler

Blue Ox

New User
Hi. I am new to this forum but not to machinery. I am trying to restore a 1010 dozer. No engine oil pressure. I am pretty sure the pump is wore out. Anybody know of a source for a new one. I do not think I want to risk putting a used one back in.
Any directions would be appreciated. I have already tried JD without success

Blue Ox. The one to ask is Jde Marris. He owns several of em and is a great mechanic on dozers/crawlers. A valuable source of information. Regards LOU.

See if Melling is still in business. We used to get repair kits from them, when I moonlighted at an engine rebuild shop, for many oil pumps. I know it may hurt but you might even try a John Deere Dealer. I just got a repair kit from the local JD dealer for my PTO air pump. McFadden in Sharon Springs, NY is worth a try and there are a lot of industrial junkyards around that may be able to help you.

I rebuilt a 1010 crawler motor about 10 years back
, the most expensive 4 cyl motor you will ever
rebuild .

here is a list of the John Deere part no#s for a
proper oil pump rebuild

AT20604 shaft and gear

25H52 pin

T561T spring

R205196 plug seal

and T631T gear which at that time was no longer
available from John Deere , I was lucky enough to
find a NOS at another dealer .

I do not believe any of these parts are available
after market , you may have to search for good
used parts .

when I rebuilt my pump the total cost of parts was
276.00 and that was ten or more years ago . email
is open for questions.

I just looked up the part no#s on jdparts and it shows that they are available , about 400.00 for the spring and both gears

Thanks to all who replied. I will follow up on some of these leads and let you know how it turns out

Idler gear and pressure regulator valve and spring
are still sold by Deere. Prices are ridiculous
though. I'd find a used pump. They are rarely worn
out. The last two 1010 gas engines I worked on
with low oil pressure did not need any oil pump
parts. Just undersized bearings. Main bearings come
in standard and in .002" and .003" under. Very often
you can fix low pressure with new or undersize
bearings without removing the crank or grinding it.

I think I will take your advice. My pump is definitely wore out
The main problem being the shaft that drives the gears is badly wore like it was machined a sixteenth under so the gear and case are alo compromised. Also the relief valve looks rough.

Not sure what caused this. I picked it up this way and had it running. Runs very nice other than no oil pressure. Tractor is very clean for its age. Rails and rollers look new and I was able to source a new set of pads for it . It also appears to have a factory cab on it which I did not know was even produced.
Thanks again

Too bad you can't find a good combine engine. I've
seen good running ones sell cheap and they have the
same parts.

Nice thing about 1010s and 2010s are there are many
in the junkyards with siezed engines. So - parts
sellers are more apt to be willing to part the
engines out. The junkyard near me has over a dozen
junked 1010s and 2010s. MacFaddens in Sharon
Springs, NY.
