IH 3500 / D239 Slow Cranking

My 3500A diesel backhoe cranks about 5 revolutions then the starter motor stops turning like the batteries are too weak or there is a load from the engine/trans on it. It will only turn over 1-2 times on 2nd turn of the key. The two six volt batteries are new and fully charged. Cranking is unaffected by jumping. All cables are cleaned and tight. Added a 2nd ground and replaced the positive to starter cable. Starter is new...both starters do the same thing. Thinking that the clutch pedal is not unloading the hydraulics...it is a synchromesh transmission, not a hydro. Tractor runs well except for this cranking issue. Anyone have any experience and suggestions?

That sounds as if the hydraulics are loading up,check every lever is in neutral, there was a guy on another forum that a fairly new Case that would not start, after changing starter, batteries and injector pump he found it was one of the jack leg levers that was stuck in lift when the spring on the spool valve broke, was an expensive learning curve, what was the start of your trouble, did the engine stop on its own or did you stop it and it will not restart, has any coolant got into the oil?.
