fuelpumpleaking took off repaired reinstalled ign switch wont shutoff machine ign switch is ok hot tosolenoid when started machine wont shut off unless choked off air when key is on motor runs rich iraticidle heavy exhaust fumes turn key off motor levels out some what timing at 18degres past center is solenoid also metering device wheres best place to find solenoid could pump shop done somrthing wrong was working fine whenitook in changed it 17 yearsago this has beenagreatmachine owned it 26years its getting hard to find partsfor wondering if itstime to letgo of it machine is in very good condition appreciate any help offered

Is this a CAV rotary pump,the electric stop switch is spring loaded to shut the fuel off when you turn the key off,it sounds to me like the governor spring is not connected in the right place,did you note where each end of the spring was connected as there are three holes in each,it is crucial,or if the spring is got distorted when taking the cover off,the stop solenoid is not the metering valve,take the pump to the fuel injection shop and have them look at it,mention the governor spring
