FOUND A D4 CAT SER#6U 8211. PONY MOTOR IS free but diesel is stuck. have not tried to free. Tracks appear to be excellent. Whats it worth. and is it worth parting out? 785-221-1399 Bill

start out at scrap price--maybe $1500 or so.

I would not part out a tractor like that, for the work of pulling the head, seeing what is hanging it up, worst case new liners, and piston rings. If its just seized from sitting. A tractor with a good set of tracks, with a seized engine is worth repairing. I've seen a few nice tractors, in running condition parted out, Zimmerman ( the one with a huge collection of old Cat's and parts cats) had a nice D8-8R some time back, a WWII era gov't tractor with a LeTourneau tilt angle dozer kit, with really nice tracks, needed some other repair that was not all that serious, now just opinion, it made no sense to me, but then again what do I know LOL !!!! I'd have bought it whole without hesitation just because the tracks were in excellent shape.
