JD450 HLR no pressure

Howdy, I was using my loader and everything was great! Then it just stopped moving all directions. I replaced the engine clutch with no change. When you shift from low to reverse you might see a small jump in the track but no real movement. I put the pressure gauge on it and cant get but a little over 10 lbs. When I raise the rpm to check the pressure oil wants to come out the inspection hole. I have adjusted the clutch as the manual says. Any and all advice will be very appreciated.

We've helped many with HLR problems here.. Go to archives and look it up by machine and "HLR"...If you still need assistance, just ask.. We're here to help... I just hate to go over it time and time again if it can be accessed in archives..

I just spent many hours reading the archives. I found a lot about if the pressure is low to one set of clutches. My pressure is low over all. But if I pull the plug where you put the gauge and turn the motor over I get large volume of oil. Would this tell me that the clutch control valve is leaking and not building pressure? Thanks

I just had the same type problems that you are describing. My engine clutch was bad. What was wrong with your clutch that caused you to change it? I know that you said you changed yours but I would make sure that it is working properly. When the trans pump is working correctly you can clearly here it running. If you have engine running and depress clutch, if its working correctly you will hear pump stop if you cannot hear a change in sound with clutch depressed I would further check your engine clutch adjustment. The trans pump requires quite a bit of power to run it with the pressures involved, if the clutch is slipping it will still pump with a little volume but not with any pressure.

Thank you for your time. I originally thought I had twisted the center of the engine clutch. When I removed it the fibers had separated off the steel. Fiber had little to no wear. After that there was no change. Yes I do hear the pump shut off when the clutch is pressed. I took the pressure valve apart and seen nothing that might cause it to malfunction. If I have a leak in the clutch control valve would it keep me from building pressure? Thanks

Was there oil contamination on the clutch plate that caused the fiber to become unbonded from the plate.
On mine I had a trans pump seal that was leaking and caused the bellhousing to fill up with oil and caused the clutch plate to fail and slip. My drain in the bottom of bellhousing became plugged with debris and that is why I didnt notice it until the trans level was low and the damage had been done. Keep those cotter pins in the drain free and that way the oil and water if there is any can drain.

There was a small amount of oil in bottom of bell housing but not enough to get close to the clutch. The old clutch shows no sign of oil contamination. The transmission fluid only got to the bottom of the full mark. Would the front pump make every thing stop at once? thanks again for your time

You might have a sealing ring leakage at the manifold behind the 3 clutchpacks.. I've seen many "spitters" pushing oil out around the gauge hose.. They seem to adjust alright.. If you try the adjustment procedure as it's written in "archives", and still low pressures , the roll pin on the clutch valve actuating lever might be broken..

Mossback and Roy...I cant thank you two enough for your help. It ended up being the roll pin. I would have never found it without help and for that I am very thank full.
Thank you very much.
