I pulled the clutch pump in 450 straight this weekend to change seal and noticed input shaft was loose so I pulled front cover to check bearing. Bearing was bad and down in the bottom of the front cover were pieces of ball bearing cage and 2 what looked to be countersunk plow bolts. There was enough of one of them to measure and across the top of the head it is about 3/4" wide. Both are black in color and you can see machine marks across the top of head. There is not enough left to see if they have the square shoulder below the angle coming down from the head.
To those of you who have been inside a HLR trans do they use a fastener like this anywhere? I have gone thru all the parts schematics and descriptions and cannot find any pictures or descriptions of bolts like this anywhere. When I first drained trans oil I also found 3 little metal clips like those that are used to hold a click type writing pen to your pocket, so maybe someone has been dropping stuff down the fill tube prior to me getting this tractor.
