Bill, you mentioned the ACME forum in another post. Is that site still going? I can't get on for love nor money and can't find out who to contact. They had a big crash a couple years back and I haven't been able to do anything beyond getting to the home page.

Good Morning Bret !

I remember something to that effect with that site, forget what happened though. I did a search using google as the browser, the ACME link came up and it appears like what you say, but the site is up. I signed in, and the site seems to be just fine, I could view forum posts, photos, appears to give you full access.

I just sent Joe Black a private message to see what can be done, problem on your end maybe, whatever the case. I am not sure if there is or was an email address for him, probably not given the situation with these forums and hackers, I would imagine he would get right back to me, or hopefully you directly if he has good info on you ie; valid e-mail address etc. So maybe this will help if there is a problem somewhere. I'm glad I could access it, see if I can help, also catch up for a bit, look at some posts etc. I kinda limited myself to one forum, only reason I have not posted over there and the other one in a long time, always enjoy reading though.

Now here's the intel we have on you from there
LOL! I guess it has been a few years! Hopefully this helps figure out what happened.

It worked for me too, seems you can't do anything on that site unless you sign in, some sites you just can't view the photos.

Huh. I can't sign in, can't get a response to "I forgot my password", nutin'. IIRC I tried to re-register and it wouldn't let me do that either.

I know the feeling, forgot my password to Gmail, never really used it anyway, but you need it for the smartphone, its a real pain to restore.

Hopefully Joe gets the message I sent. Maybe after a few tries it does that, seems to be common, same thing happened with the above, try too many times and it shuts you out.

Probably something simple.

There are 2 ACME sites right now--Joe's site which is antique caterpillar machinery enthusiasts which was the original site, and a new site-antique construction machinery enthusiasts which was formed when Joe's site disappeared for a number of months--Kansas Cat set it up. Joe's site you can be a guest and read posts but on Kansas Cat site you have to register to read posts.

Thanks, I'll look around.

I just tried looking at what you refer to as Joes site. All I can get to is the home page with a few pics on it. Can't get any further.

Bret, Joe's response,(below) not sure how or whats best to connect you guys but will forward your email address via the personal/private messenger feature on that site if that works or is not a problem. My email is always open here as well if you don't want to post it. I thought I had the same problem with that site when I found the page, but saw where I could sign in,(upper right of page). I did that and the site works, but that's what throws me off, on your end (no option to sign in) but would have to see the homepage you are opening, you could do a screen capture and post a .jpg of it, maybe its different on your end. Is it possible you did not see the field of entry for username/password on that page, I have for some reason done that more than once, missed some small inane looking part of a page, button, icon or some similar thing, only to look again and its right in front of me LOL ! In any event, glad to be of help in any way!

PS, link attached to the page I used to sign in, just for comparison, I have seen inactive home pages come up for sites that were read access only, can't do anything once the page is opened, only other thing I can think of, before checking settings or other scenarios with your pc and their site, the technical aspects of which would likely be beyond me LOL !

"Thanks for the info! If you can get me his contact email I'll get in touch to see where he's experiencing problems and correct."
ACME Site

Bret--I tried to view the site without logging in and got the same as you--could not read any posts--I have no idea how guests get on. anyway i sent you a pm from there and hopefully it will get to you!

ACME Site

Billy, your link is the same as I've been using. I don't see your email in classic or modern view here. Appreciate the help. I also don't find any way of contacting an admin at the ACME site w/o signing in.

Right, probably have to be signed in to use the features. Whats odd is if you go to classic view on this site, there should be a "send email" active link on the bottom of each post, I've always left that open, enabled etc, and get occasional email from people here so it definitely works, for whatever reason if that is not enabled or is just as you mentioned and you can't use it, then I'll just post my address here, add some spaces or change it so it can't be harvested etc. at this point I get so much spam, probably don't matter anyway, then just email me and I'll forward yours to Joe. Now maybe Dpendzic's mail/pm found you already, whereas you can exchange information and it can get back to Joe at ACME so he can contact you, one way or another we'll connect you guys somehow LOL !

Lets try it with my proper handle!

Okay, you have to be logged on in Classic view to be able to get to the email. I have no idea how to get to someones email in Modern View. At any rate you should have an email from me Bill.

Got your email, and just forwarded your address to Joe via the PM feature on the ACME website, lets see what happens LOL !
