D2 Caterpillar with a six way blade?

Hello and Good Morning everybody. I was recently contacted by somebody wanting to sell a Caterpillar D2 dozer. I have not went down to look at the dozer yet but they claim it has a 6 way blade on it. Is this possible this is a factory blade? I am not too familiar with the blade options they had on the D2's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Could be a modification to add tilt or an unfamiliar aftermarket manufacturer that made a blade that had the extra feature. The old LeTourneau dozer kits on 30's-40's tractors, there was a tilt/angle dozer, essentially a manual angle and tilt, but a 6 way.

I don't believe the caterpillar dozer kits in that era had tilt, now I could be wrong, but I suspect you are correct, tool bar dozer kits/blades did not or that I can recall, be interesting to see a photo of it if and when you look at it, could be nicely done modification or other manufacturer, interesting question, certainly does not sound familiar for one of these era tractors, could be a blade that someone built for it, I've seen some of those on tractors, just not 6 way. I am trying to recall, but I think Mike Mc over on ACMOC built a nice 6 way for a smaller caterpillar tractor, same era, I remember sending or posting photos of a 6 way on a new D4G I had rented, that was 10 years ago. So, if I recall correctly, its definitely possible, his was nicely done, from scratch, and all hydraulic too.

The Cat 2A blades are a manual angle,The 2S blade I have is not tilt, but my D4 is a manual tilt but not angle.
I have run Mike Mc's D4 a few times and it works well--he has a high volume hydraulic pump on it so the reaction on the hydraulics is very very quick--took a little to get used to it.

Thats the one, I remember when he was building it, impressive work, not overly complicated but still, it looked very well designed and built, I have not participated over there, acmoc, in quite some time, you must have been at one of the gatherings, sounds like a lot of fun. Sometimes its hard to remember all this, what is seen on these forums, but things like this stand out though, when having an interest in this old iron. His was a old tractor with a modern custom built blade, hopefully on a longer track frame to balance better, didn't he also have a 3pt hitch or something nicely done on the back of one of these ? I remember the D8 H.O./McCoy, twin stack he built, and the truck/trailer too, fun to see what people build, restore etc.

Yep--Mike likes to build things! He added a 5th roller to the track frames, increased the HP, and added hydraulics to the rear as he pulls a scraper with it.
These pics are from ACME spring fling out in Kansas
Been trying to get them to hold the fling one year in Ma.--check out there skills on a mountain with big trees and rocks!!!

Yes, definitely different conditions, I do not like running a crawler in the local mountains, can be mud, muck and mire, hard/dry, huge rocks, trees to avoid, extremely hard digging and running conditions if you have to drop your blade into the dirt. I worked for a friend who did a lot of work in the mountains west of the berkshires, not fun at all no matter what weather we had, big round boulders was far better to get back to the rolling hills, smaller rocks, no flatlanders around here per say LOL ! I remember this now annual event when it first started, time flies. I have learned that some are deceased, like GWH, sure seem like a nice group of people who like old iron!

Thank you for all of your help guys. Tomorrow I am going to go look. I"ll try to post a few pictures if it is a actual six way "conversion". Thanks for the help!
