1010 crawler loader.

I am looking at a 1010 that looks to be in fairly good shape. It is gas and has a ripper on it. The under carriage is about 75% or better.Ive had two other 1010"s, both diesel. This one dosen" have a hyd splitter valve on it that I saw. I was wondering if that was a upgrade on later models? I know about the sterring clutches and the shuttle trans. I am wondering about the 4 cyc gas eng. good or bad? I know it will be a little less hp than the diesel and I am ok with that.Dont know the hours on it but there isnt a dent in the sheet metal anywhere and it apears to have sit in the shed most of its life. Bucket is"t bowed bent or ripped or welded on. I didn"t see any welds anywhere on the machine. Does anyone have any thoughts on a decent price range? Its not like new but I think it would be hard to find one in better shape than this one. Thanks for any and all input.

I don't think you'll notice a bit of difference between the gas and diesel. The gas engine is much smaller at 115 cubic inches (as compared to the 144 diesel) but gas engines make more power then diesels when bore, stroke, and aspiration are the same. I've got a first year 1960 1010 crawler-loader with the gas engine and ripper. I love it. Paid $2500 for it maybe 15 years ago after it had been in a "light" fire. I ended up replacing every hose, rebuilding the engine, and rewiring it. Been a great machine since. I prefer it over a 350. Reverser-drive on the flywheel is certainly better. There is no hydraulic splitter-valve on mine. I'd say $4500 would be a good deal going by your description.

Thanks The first two I owned had splitter valves so you could use a backhoe but this one just has a lever next to the bucket control. This one dosen't look like it has been restored but there isn't much show of wear even on the paint on the undercarriage rollers and sub frame under the tractor. Thanks again. I am going to the auction in the morning and see if my check book is big enough. Thanks

1010 crawler-loader used a 35 or 36 ripper. Left the factory with a three-spool valve. Two spools for the loader and the 3rd spool for the ripper if used. No diverter valve.

Thanks JD. My checkbook wasen't big enough. The 1010 brought $6700.00. It was leaking gas into the oil and had a bad carrier roller. The tractor would not idle either and had just had a new carb kit in it.Hopefully the new owner will have good luck with it. Thanks

Sam you sound like a JD man but might intrest you. Have a 125E Ih loader. Would be 20 years newer ,power shift, turbo diesel with like new bottom. Has 4& 1 bucket . Runs, steers perfect some pin wear in loader linkage. $ 4,500 here in Tennessee.
