International track loader 165 need sprockets

I have an International 165 track loader in need of track sprockets. These loaders are not very popular and few were made, and getting parts can be a real nightmare. I have read of different people on this forum making there own tracks and was just wondering if it might be possible to maybe have a machine shop weld on a new sprocket ring or have segments installed on the sprockets I have now, and if so how could I match the track I have now? Or could the sprocket from another International crawler be used inplace of the 165 sprocket? Any ideas?

if you get the segments for a 165, they will match a NEW chain. Maybe turning the bushings would help if you don't buy new track chain.

You'd have to find out the dimensions and pitch of the tracks to see if they match up to more common tracks. If they do, then yes you could probably weld sprocket rims on. To weld an adaptor for segements on is a lot more work and a lot more expensive.

You might want to visit the Classic Machinery Network. They may be more familiar with your unit & ideas for undercarriage.

You are right and I know they are people who can,t believe there is equipment out there with no new replacment parts. Over the years I have seen two diffrent people spend the money to order td15B ih sprocket rims and rails. They seemed to be about the easiest conversion. I have never looked at how much diffrence there is in a ih 150 loader might find a berco book and look. Me I would,n spend a dime on a 165. I was a dealer when they came out. Built in poland and after a while all dealers wished they had never brought them over. Fact is many never made it off the dock and were shipped back over seas. The 175 s were far better loaders.
