Here I go again. Ran across a Hough 70, rear steer, 6 cyl diesel, poor 24" tires, it starts and runs good with good brakes and hydraulics. The asking price is $7,000.00 what do you guys think. I could only use it for snow and a lifting device.

Thanks

Rear steer means it is at least 35 years old..my thinking is for 7 grand you could find something newer , certainly in these parts you could. Thing is with 7 grand in that old thing here is what happens , you get it, something small like the starter, $ 125.00 then say the water pump $ 100, then maybe another two or three small problems then it drops a transmission or something you already have 7500 or so in it then do you want to spend 2500 more or so. First thing you are in a no win situation. You either have a high priced boat anchor or an old loader that you have twice what it is worth in it. Just my thinking. You would not be the first person to do it, see folks try and trade me a 35 year old tractor that is worth $1,500 but they have 4 grand in it.

I would run the other way. There was a terex articulating loader with a detroit and side dump bucket for $5500, he had it on craigslist for at least 2 years. The 70 would probably be a 4000 machine where I"m at. Nobody uses them anymore except as toys or something to have around the house.

Thanks guys , I'm going to pass on this one . I learned today that scrap price is $240.00/ ton (Northern Ontario) so for $7000.00 it's not even worth scrap value .
