jd 450 water pump

I just bought a 450 straight loader which is sitting in a field. Water pump is seized. I would like to fix it so it can be loaded and hauled home ,but I don"t have access to anything where it is to lift noses off to get to pump. Can nose be tipped or is there enough room to get pump off without removing nose? Tractor is about 2 hours from home so I would like to make as few trips as possible to get it loaded and home where I can take care of other little things. I loosened belt to start it and made sure it ran and worked but don"t want to run it that way for very long. Any Suggestions

I usually throw a timber accross the arms and use a short chain and come along to lift the nose off. Be sure to prop up the loader arms so they can't come down. You can lay the nose on the ground with the come along and get to the radiator that way. (This assumes that you already replaced the hydraulic hose that popped)

Of course if you are in a field and can get the trailer lined up close to the loader, you should be able to get it loaded quickly enough to not overheat it.

I am going over next weekend to change hose and check out some more stuff. I could make some supports to hold up arms. Does anyone have dimensions for supports to put over lift rams to support lift arms?

Like has been said get the trailer close fire it up and drive on. You won"t hurt it as long as the belt is loose and its full of coolant.

I've taken it off both ways. Same tough job either way. Easier if you can take it off but you need plenty of manpower or equipment. Really slow tedious job tipping it but one man can do it. Very tight, slow working conditions.
