Well, I'm still looking for a dozer. Found these two, this week and was going to go look at them this weekend. Then I found out yesterday that I have to work this weekend. I was wanting to find out about any important info or problems with these machines. So, I thought I'd ask if anyone had any info on them. Not sure yet on the ages. The Dresser is early eighties. The D6c is pre '76 at least.
I was just mainly wanting to know what to watch out for on these particular models. Like parts availibility on the Dresser. I heard from another the D6c 10K was one of the best D6 dozers ever produced. But, that might be just one persons opinion. So, I'd like to here what others have to say about them. The Dresser is 4K less than the D6. Weight is about the same.

Thanks for the info.

I was involved in the logging industry for many years and the skid cat of choice was always the D6 10K series. Whether I was skidding logs or pioneering a new road with the dozer the Dc out shined the TD15. The cat has the patented walking beam suspension that the 15 lacks making it a more stable machine on uneven terrain. Parts availability will be much better with the D6 also. Make sure there are no leaks around the seals of the final drives and you should be ready to go.

Have a lot of experience so here is my take. First the 15 c is what I call a poor mans dozer. Engine, transmission, or final drives can be repaired or replaced for around $ 2,500 each. Engine, tns. or finals on the cat will be more how much any ones guess. What will happen is you will have more small things like leaks and hose failures on the 15c but WHEN you do have a problem on the cat again more cost. As for the work each will do while running if it is moving dirt no comparisons. Look at the 15c blade has the semiu blade that just carries more dirt than the d6. Parts are no problem can give you name of a good dealer and used parts everywhere for the 15c.

The D6C was well regarded, all the usual crawler check list items apply, things people have posted here, myself included, on the forum here. They garnered the same reputation as the next series up, D6D. There is a local farmer, whom I buy from in the spring, greenhouse plants, he has a really nice C series, he put some money into it, but was well worth it. Also nice, all of his equipment is in buildings, all kept really nice, and he took me around, when I saw that little gem, and the other equipment, exactly how I would do it too.

The other Dressta or Dresser, there was a dealer here as I used to pick up at an adjacent dealer, never really saw many of these on jobs or know much about them, that C should have decent parts support, if its sound mechanically, all things check out, definitely a good model, I ran D series 6's very reliable.
