Re: 4 lever ford controls

CLAS-Left to right: Standard for Ford 4 stick controls

CROWD (dipperstick)
LIFT (boom)
ACTUATE (bucket)
SWING (swing L or R)

On Modern View about 4 lines down is a resurected old post with some info on converting a pherd 4 lever hoe to joysticks, with the same title.

I"m guessing- wants to convert the 4 lever system to 2 levers. I"d like to do the same, some days! I"ve looked at some and I don"t think it"s hard to make the parts.

What is it you need? If I remember right outside left hand is swing, inside left raise/lower, inside right hand is the bucket, outside right hand swings the stick.

It's been almost 20 years since I ran one.

From left to right. Swing (forward right, back left) bucket (f, open, b, close), lift (f, down, b, up) and crowd (f, out, b, in). I miss this configuration. Liked the fact that you could pull back on both right side handles and operate the bucket with left hand and clean the bottom of your ditch. My 2 stick Kubota can do this also but seems to take a little more finesse than my old ford.

How to operate ?? or How to fix ?? To operate , left hand runs boom and crowd.. Right hand runs bucket and swing.. Far left control pulled back lifts boom.. pushed forward lowers boom.. Second from left is crowd [ pushes dipperstick out or pulls dipperstick in].. 3rd from left is bucket curl.. Push out and bucket curls outward.. Pull it back to you and bucket curls inward.. On the right is the swing.. Pull it back and it swings to the right, pushed forward it swings to the left.. To pull a flat bottom , pull both levers on left hand back evenly , tickling the bucket slightly to get a full bucket every swipe..
