Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

This is what is happening. No forward or reverse in any gear, cold or warm. It doesnt even try.

what I've done:
Had the fluid coupling rebuilt (torque converter).

Tested the output of the hydraulic pump that powers the reverser.
it put out 1700 lbs all day. It also pumped the volume of oil it should.

checked the pressure at the control valve on the top of the reverser. It was in spec.

checked and got almost NO oil pressure at the port on the bottom of the reverser. I cant remember the name of it, but its the one thats in the circuit that controls the forward and reverse clutch packs.

like I said, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for looking!

Hope this troubleshooting chart helps.
I have a service manual that has more info if interested.

Thanks Walt, I have the same troubleshooting guide you posted.
I guess the clutches could be worn out, or have bad o rings but I'm having trouble believing they both went at the same time.

When I test the pressure to them I get almost nothing forward or reverse.
Does your other book explain the troubleshooting in more depth?

Thanks!

Sounds like there could be a valve or check valve somewhere in the system that is dumping the pressure that you need. Look at the hydraulic diagram and see where there is any type of valve that could be the problem.

(quoted from post at 15:13:56 01/18/14) is your transmission in gear and or is it turning

I've tried all gears (including neutral) and still no pressure at the forward/reverse clutch test port (bottom of the reverser)

I'll look into this. I'm beginning to suspect something wrong with the clutch petal assembly.
Seems to be the only circuit between the control valve (where I have good pressure) and the transmission clutch packs (where I don't have pressure).

Keep the ideas coming everyone!
Thanks.

Zack, you may have the same "service manual" I have.
I'm posting some pages . >You may have made these checks already. If so let me know where you are in your troubleshooting.

Thanks walt, and everyone else who helped!

I put a blow gun on the test port on the bottom (low pressure regulator) and was able to make the clutches engage.
I started getting a little bit of hydraulic pressure from that port after that, so I took that lower valve apart and found a bunch of crap in it.
put it back together and presto! We have a nice little dozer that moves.

Thanks again for the help!!

We are having the same problem with one we just acquired. It ran on to our trailer and back off, then moved forward once and now it has nothing. It had been setting somf time before we got it and the fellow said it needs fluid because it has a slow leak. What type of fluid do these take. Our dealer doesn't seem to know.
