belt pulley for john deere MC

hello,
I have my grandfathers original condition 1951 john deere mc, which he bought new. the crawler has a pto but no belt pulley. I bought a belt pulley gear box for it but have now been told that some m series are easy to install a belt pulley and some are difficult. what tell tale signs do I look for? if it is going to be difficult, I am more interested in keeping the crawler correct then having a belt pulley.
thankyou

Step one is to look on top of your transmission I believe. There should be two levers, one for the PTO and one for the belt pulley. If there is only the lever to turn the PTO on and off then I would say it is not worth your trouble because you would need a different transmission case. Step two - if there are two levers, go to the back of the crawler and look below the seat. There should be a cover plate with 4 bolts. Remove those four bolts and you should have access to the top of the rear end housing. Now if you slide the power shaft into the housing it should mate up with the spinled shaft coupler inside to give the belt pulley power. Make sure you get or make a new gasket to seal the pulley to the housing and check the pulley for oil. This is based on my JD MT.

I'm not sure which one the MC used but the M and MT have different ones based on the length of the shaft. I'd say the MC was based off the M wasn't it ?

I know there are 4 different pto master shields for these. Most seem to advertise these parts as interchangeable but they are not, same as the implements for them.
