MF 300 Dozer

I'm looking at a local MF 300 dozer (short transport distance) that has not been used very much in the last 10 years but run every few months. Looks decent and the rails/pads are straight, does not show a lot of wear. What should I look for? What are the problem areas? Are repair parts available? Other information says it has a 4 cylinder Perkins engine. All information is appreciated.

What do you mean by rails are straight? The only way to check undercarriage is to measure it. I don't think new undercarriage is available. Engine parts are no problem but for the rest of the machine they could be almost impossible to find.

Do yourself a big favour, take someone along that knows track machines and measure the wear before you buy! crawler heaven dot com will have that listed, write the numbers down and take them with you! Do not take the sellers word!
I also am told the MF machines are hard to find parts for, but check for yourself.
Good luck

the were great machines and way ahead of others but that is were the good stops. no track parts available or rollers or sprockets to make it short about the only thing available is engine parts. had two 300s both crawler loaders like I said before great machines and heavy built but just no parts left. if you can get it for scrap price and it dose run and drive and has a very good under side I would jump on it BUT if you have no experience with them then do not buy it

They were quite popular machines in the UK & Australia.
As far as I'm aware,Berco still makes MF200 & 300 undercarriage.Steering discs are available new,as are engine parts.
The hardest parts to find are specialised parts for transmission,& driveline.I would imagine a search thru Machinery Trader might bring up a few dismantled machines.Minnpar will also be of help,I'd imagine.
I always liked the ripper set up on those Masseys.

Yeah, maybe not available to USA .My quotes last year were from a European supplier.
The 200/2244 u/c is still easily bought here.
