The original subject was "Re: TD8E steering issue".

Rob R or JM, I have TD8E also with the same steering problem. I looked at the 2 o"clock position on the rear drive sprockets and I didn"t see a 3/4" square nut with a lock nut? Also there is a plate on the back of the machine where I believe you guys where talking about getting to the internal adjustment. I would like to try the external adjustment first but don"t can"t seem to find it. I can post some pictures tonight if someone can take a look and help me out.

Thanks,

Chris

Right side at 2 o"clock right were track leaves sprocket ,is the adjuster.Make sure all the dirt is cleaned away,IT"S THERE. A LITTLE HARD TO SEE,honest ron, lock nut is 1,1/2 wrench

I've uploaded an image can someone tell me if the nut I circled is the correct one for the steering adjustment?

YOU are the winner you have found it. Now it is not like you are thinking. IF when you pull say the left track the right ones quits pulling then you go and do the adjustment on the right side. Go easy and try about one & half turns at a time.
Takes time to get it just right without the book.

Ok so what I'm getting is that when I pull back on the left steering lever it should stop the left track (left side when operating the dozer). however it doesn't seem to stop the left track completely just kind of slows is it down. Sometimes it will stop it completely but most of the time just slows it down. So I would need to do the adjustment on the left side correct?

Thanks,

Chris

NO sounds like yours is not the common issue. YOURS will require internal adjustment. Outside is only if have a clutch slipping. E-mail is open.

jm, I feel like such a noob. I don't know how to send an e-mail to you through here or how to get your e-mail address. In any event I took a look in the rear end of the dozer through the rear access panel. I saw what looked to be like two hydraulic cylinders on each side with a spring on each side. I had my wife pull back on each of the steering levers and each cylinder looked to operate correctly. Didn't see anywhere that I could adjust anything.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, you may be able to answer my questions regarding the DT239 engine I just posted. Please look it up.
