Dozer shopping

Looking for a tree clearing/light duty dozer.

I will be pulling it behind a 3500 Chevy that is tagged for 36,500. I dont want to have to gross that high but w/ my swather loaded I break 30K EASY + tools, 200 gal of fuel, Welder, air compressor, and other junk.

I have a tree cutter, 4010 w/ loader, and 4320 w/ blade that I usually clear/stack with but I want to get into canyons more to pick up more acres.

We have a IH TD20C but thats a bit over kill (well its fun to plow trees over) and I would have to use the semi plus drive a pick up and that doesnt make alot of sense to me.

Wanting a LGP dozer prefer a cab, will be mostly winter work but ac would be nice just because. Any ideas for good solid dozers in that size? ~#20K is a good starting place, Price ~$20-30K tops.

Been doing it for along time. One of the trucks has has over 300K on it, its hard on the truck but with decent trailer brakes its very do able. I have a Class A CDL and all of the proper paper work from dot.

Got a neighbor that has a one owner d3G real late cat 6 way , cab and air, I will have to check on pad width. I am thinking right around the 30 figure is where he priced it. Wants to sell before the end of the year. Kentucky Location . Let me know if interested.

Oh, okay, as long as you've been doing it that way for a long time I guess that makes it a great idea then.

Sorry guy, I was a DOT Inspector. I'm not going to say any more. I'm just going to stay out of your way!

I pass dot inspections and no one gives me grief over the loads since I am properly tagged. Not sure what you are worked up about, I'm not breaking any laws.

A couple of my trucks.

Not worked up at all, amused is more like it. Registration has nothing to do with towing capacity. You're towing way, way beyond the vehicles rated capacity. If that's the way they do things where you, fine. Interstate you'd find you're into a different ball game, unless the laws have changed drastically int he past 4-5 years since I retired. You an tag an S-10 or Toyota SR5 for 36K, doesn't mean it's legal (or a good idea) to haul from the east coast tot he west coast with it.

To each their own, drive careful!

Fair enough but the local tractor dealers are tagged the same way to deliver equipment. Alot of small oil field dozers go down the highway behind pickups. With all the people that do it I have never seen an issue. I never get over 55 w/ my loads that heavy.

Heck I have a buddy with a tripple axle travel trailer that ways more than my pickup and swather combo.

As long as the axle weight ratings aren't topped I don't think he could do a lot to you if you've got the proper tags.

The new Dodge 3500 is rated to tow 30,000.

I don't know what kind of soils you have, but I think if you go to moving much dirt with a widetrack machine you're going to be sorely disappointed. They are good for grading but don't have the traction for real digging. Ran a new 650LGP Deere one day, digging a big hole, well, tried to at least....

I have clay and sand (nearly 100ft elevation change between a few farms). It will be used to dig out ponds, grade terraces, and push tree piles/clear brush. We have a big beast for digging lakes.

How much does a LPG 650 weigh in its work clothes? I've seen a few weights and there is a 5K range in what they say. I found one with a winch on the back.

I found this dozer, how far off is the weight he posted?

I actually found a IH Dump truck w/ 855 cummins I like (nothing definate) but IF I get it I am not sure what size trailer I would need because I hve no idea what the equipment actually weighs.

The posted weight is lighter than my MFWD 8930 CIH operating weight.
