post hole drill

does anyone know how well a one man post hole gas drill will handle a 12 inch bit ? unit is 1.6 hp earth auger machine. also, does anyone have a hydraulic type drill for sale or a three point hitch auger for sale. need to drill 8 holes for pole barn. thanks randal

If you've only got 8 holes to dig, you could dig them by hand quicker than you could round up the stuff to power dig them.

TRUE, BUT THAT IS THE LAST OPTION. I WOULD HOWEVER USE THE DRILL LATER FOR MORE POST SETTING. THANKS

I dug 70-6" holes with 1 3 years ago. worked good, would think the 12 auger would be real heavy.

I see them on Craigslist pretty often, both hydraulic (which I bought) and 3 pt.

Rent one or get someone with a skid steer to drill your holes. You probably need to go down 6 ft. or more. 1.6 HP isn't very much.

LOOKED AT MY DRILL AND FOUND IT IS A 3.0 HP UNIT. MAYBE IT MIGHT HANDLE A 12 INCH BIT ?

WELL I BOUGHT A 3 POINT POST HOLE DIGGER TO MOUNT OT MY ALLIS DOZER PTO SHAFT. HAVE CONNECTED IT ALL UP AND AM TRYING TO FIND A STEEL SLEEVE THAT WILL FIT THE SHAFT 1 1/4 OD WITH 19 SPLINES. ANYONE HAVE THIS OR SOMETHING THAT WILL WORK ?
