TD9-B Torque Converter to Flywheel Straps

HELP !!! I am at my wits' end !!I have replaced the flywheel to torque converter straps 4 times and now they are broken again. When I idled the engine down for shut down, I heard a "clunk" and the straps broke, with the flywheel end of the straps broken. Can anyone give me some information as to what is causing this problem?
Thanks everyone.

Real easy, your torque convertor is like a car wheel it is running on a hub and the hub bearings are down letting it wobble and breaking the straps. You will need to pull the torque and rebuild it quick or it will be junk.

Well, the torque converter has been rebuilt. It was breaking the straps before I had it rebuilt, and is still breaking them.

Well you rebuilder either Did not replace the hub bearing (I am betting) or he has it out of balance. Those straps only break when there are flexed too much. Have seen this many times in my 35 years ih experience and I will bet you will find the hub bearing bad or installed crooked.

The engine needs to be aligned with the convertor both vertically and horizonally. The front engine mount should have shims under it and the engine can be shifted side to side for alignment. We used a special alignment tool, without convertor installed. The tool was supported on the ground sleeve (convertor support) with a dial indicator to the flywheel.
Sorry I can't remember the runout spec.
Also the straps need to be installed to the flywheel so they are pulling the convertor around rather than pushing it.
good luck with it
Dennis
