Ford 655A Backhoe

Need to know the best way to get to the brakes to a)check them and/or b) change them. This is an old backhoe does the work I need but brakes need changing. Not even sure where they are.

The brakes are behind the final drive "trumpet" housing.. There is a linkage adjustment that can be made from the outside.. Look for the threaded portion of the linkages right at the final drive housings.. If the brakes are that shot, that they need replaced.... The axle "trumpet" housings must be removed ..They operate on a ball/ramp theory.. When the linkage gets pulled it twists 2 plates with ball bearings between them.. That expands to apply the disc brake..
