case 450 dozer fan???

bought a case 450 this spring runs better then new as far as im concerned but warmer weather has come and when im working it fairly hard its getting hot so did a little investigating and discovered that the fan is a pushing air out through the rad instead of pulling it in and onto the motor. is it just me or does this sound funny where it has a fan shroud on the inside of the rad ???

that is the way it should blow. just about all ind eq blows out the front. if it sucks in it will fill the engine compartment up with dirt is short order. CLEAN the rad out with high pressure water and after it dries lots and lots of air

Most dozers have reversible fans blades... If you look at the hub of the fan it's probably got a spring/hub arrangement there where you push the blade in and turn it 1/4 turn to reverse the direction of air movement.
That said... yours is set up to push which is normal for summer operation. You can turn them around now but I absolutely GUARNANTEE you... after an hour you'll turn them back. The heat that sucker will dump back on you is unreal... It is great for winter use tho.

What you need to do is just get in there and blow the rad clean. If it's got an oil film on the back side you need to get some gunk and soften that up and hose it off.

I took the fan off last night and tried flipping it but even flipped it still makes a pusher I figured someone put the blade on backward at first but apparently that's not the case the rad wasn't dirty at all from what I saw of it but ill clean it regardless and if it's still heating the old girls gonna get a high cfm electric fan

You don't take the fan off. If it's a reversible type you push the blades towards the center hub and turn 1/4 turn until they pop back out. That way the leading edge of the fan is now pulling air from the rad side of the fan as opposed to the engine side of the fan.
If cleaning doesn't help then I'd open the rad cap... CAREFULLY and look in there for bubbles while it's running and check for circulation or other evidence of crap. It might be that the cooling system needs to be drained and thoroughly cleaned. I use a fast flush type of acid product available at NAPA and other such places...
The machine should cool itself fine if everything else is in proper working order. IT may be marginal... but it should cool.
How hot is it running anyhow? Is this a Cummins engine or the old big bore Case engine?

The 450 came with either a suction or pusher fan but not a reversible,one of those heat guns is the ideal for trouble shooting the cooling system,be careful of the fan,put your hands one on the top hose and the other on the bottom with the engine running or the top and bottom of the rad there should be a notable difference in the temperature if the rad is doing its job,as suggested a clean rad both inside and out would be where I would start.
