D4 7U winch models?

I've been looking for a D4N winch for sometime now, with no luck. I know that the D4, D4D & D4N models all fit the 7U series. What about the D4E? The parts manual shows the drawbar modifications for the 6U-7U series. Is this correct? The D4E models seem to be more plentiful than the others. Thanks.

D4E winch will fit the 7U, so will the D4F, difference being the F model is steel plate fabricated vs earlier cast versions.

Thanks old magnet! This just made my life easier in trying to source a winch for my machine. So does that make the D4F more desirable then? Also do the E & F models run a PTO throughout their production, or is there a cut off?

Do they run off the PTO shaft..yes. The d4F is either direct drive (pto) or Power shift version.

Yes, the steel fab is probably more desirable but they are all pretty stout.

Might want to snoop around www.alliedwinch.com
Free manuals for Hyster, some but not all models.

Let me correct that a little, the D4F is designed for direct drive and torque converter tractors equipped with interruptable power take offs.

I have been cruising around allied winches' website & have downloaded several manuals. They just didn't go into detail as to wether or not they would fit the older machines. What was common knowledge, has now been forgotten on 40+ year old equipment. One last question: if a dozer has a hand clutch, with power shift the winch will be compatible with the older models correct? Please forgive me, my D4 7U is the first sizeable dozer I've owned, and am not familiar with all the newer models. Thanks again old magnet.

Recived a reminder that on the D4E & F winches the pto drive shaft may require an extended length coupling in order to fit the 6U/7U tractors.
Just passing the info along.
