Landini 7830 steering clutch question

I just picked up a cheap Landini 7830 crawler with a bad steering clutch. I"m having a heck of a time getting a manual for it. Called two dealers and neither one has called me back. The steering clutch that is out was supposedly replaced last year, and the crawler worked when it was parked for the season. When they tried backing it out of the barn in the spring - no clutch. I found a parts book for the 6830 which supposedly shares most parts, and the steering clutch looks like it is compressed via an external spring acting on the clutch lever. I"ve never seen that arrangement before, so I thought I would ask here if anyone is familiar with this unit.
