I just bought a 1965 john deere loader backhoe for a thousand bucks and was wondering HOW to tell what model it is AND where the serial number is located ?? Also where can I find a picture of the mackine ?? Thanks

It may be a 1010 , 1020 or a 2010. Look for a plate on the rt side of the engine block for 1010 and 2010. If it is a 1020 the plate will be on the rt side of the transmission. Basic pictures can be found by searching for tractor data and selecting John Deer.

From all the photos I've seen it looks close to a 400 series, I busted a hose yesterday and lost hyd fluid. Where is the hyd tank located And what kind of hyd fluid does it take..Is there a dip stick to check it ?? My fluid was tan milkey white.. Thanks

I'm not familiar with the 400 series. But I would suspect it probably has an hdy pump on the rear pto and extra tank with a sight glass for the oil level, remove the breather cap and filler up to the center of the glass. At least on my 2010 thats how it was, I used generic hdy oil.

I have 4 tags on the machine, One on the loader arm.
it says Type E7-400 serial# 005081 . One on the transfer case. Type T5WID serial# 0706721 . One on the backhoe. Type E0094 serial# 003783U . and one on the motor . Type 51TW serial# 105994T. Can any-body tell me what I got ??? thanks
