Is this a TD9?

I think this is a TD-9 but not sure. It had a 12 volt battery I going to try to start it Monday an doing a little research before trying.

Nice example of an IH, and a Bucyrus Erie blade, the pads look new on that tractor, sure is a straight, complete looking tractor, blade and cutting edges appear to be in nice shape too.

Jay Sure looks like a td9 to me. Td 6 would be smaller. The tractor serial number plate MIGHT be right where your right heal would kick the seat support. Starts on gas and changes over.

Unless the seat and fuel tank height has been
modified, the top of the seat cushion and the top of
the seat sides in relation to the hood, support my
guess that it's a TD6.

The serial plate may be on the dash near the left
brake pedal. It's not unusual to find them missing or
beat to the point of being unreadable.

Nice looking machine.

Sometimes you can see the model number on the side of the fuel tank,at the top. It"s often painted over, but can be seen.
If no ID tag is available, the best way is to quote a few part numbers, like the large number embossed on the final drive housings...or numbers on the engine.

O.K. I give in after looking and reading the other post May after all be td 6. Casting number of the final drive housing would do it. Starts with something like DA then 4 or 5 numbers. Will be right there behind the sprocket on the final drive cover.

Can someone tell me how to start this thing. I can get the motor to turn but it is a missing the push button to start. However thier is a lever if i push down on it it will turn the starter. I think i've got no power to the distributor.

Does it have a distributor or magneto? If it has a distributor, you could just run a hot wire to it. You'll need to have the compression lever and throttle control in the right position for starting on gas. The changeover control will short out the mag if it's in the diesel position. It all sounds complex, but once you understand it, those machines are very easy to start. If it has sat for a long time, you'll probably need to check the mag (or distributor) to be sure you are getting spark. The carb might also need cleaned if someone left gas in it. An operators manual will answer most of your questions if you aren't familiar with the machine.

I do have power on the side of the magneto. Just not at the spark plug. Maybe i do have the lever for diesel in the wrong prosion. Anyone have a pdf of what all the controls/levers are for?

I don't have any pdf of the controls, but the starting lever will shut down the throttle control when it's in the start position, the 2 are interconnected. I forget which way it goes as I don't have a TD crawler here right now. But to test it if you advance the throttle control, then move the start lever, it will force the throttle control to the off position. If you play with it both ways, you will see what I mean. The start lever controls the compression, gas shut off and spark all in one motion. If you don't get any spark, you might also need to clean the points or have other mag problems. The pic you show doesn't show the start lever. I think you need to get yourself an operators manual. These machines are kind of complex, but once you understand the operation its easy. Also,, be careful to check the coolant level, it's very critical with these machines as the radiators sit kind of low and low coolant will cause a cracked head very quickly.
