Some old Cat pictures

Just though some of you might enjoy seeing some pictures of this late 1930's era Cat dozer. We where out on a tractor ride yesterday, and one of the stops along the way was to see this fella crank up his latest addition . This dozer will never half to do any real work, as this man has a lot of newer equipment to do the dirty work.Bruce

Operated one just like that for many years. Hated the clanging sound from the cable over head if you dropped the blade too far. Also very tiring on the right arm as the blade control was above and behind the right shoulder.

I know the feeling, these are something to operate. The lever on my D7 somehow came back over, its the spring loaded deal, (R7 PCU) and whacked me in the side of the head, pretty hard, a little more and I firmly believe it could have knocked a person out. I don't think it came across with the full throw, but man did it hurt just the same.
The lever is relatively easy to adjust, but as I recall the bearing was so old and though it worked ok, I know darned well to respect that lever. Part of it was someone rigged up seat on this thing and it was too darned high, lines up perfect with the noggin. Its amazing the things that were built with these, Alcan Highway, all the WWII military work, then later on, even outdated soon by hydraulics, some still preferred the later CAT CCU operated blades, lever in the same place, and it is a bit awkward, that and if you have a bad shoulder, no fun at all ! LOL !
