Working on TD-24 which has not run for 2 years. Was able to get it started and initially it would operate well in reverse and was temperamental in forward. Yesterday, for some reason it would not operate in forward or reverse. I checked one of the two filters above the transmission and there was minimal fluid. I checked the transmission fluid lever and it was ok. Any thoughts.
Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. I added hydraulic oil until the oil flowed out of the vent plug on top of the accumulator.
I earlier removed the two transmission filter. One is perpendicular and the other is at about a 45 degree angle and found there was no fluids in them.
The filters appeared to be clean with no oil residue on them. Is something blocked preventing the oil to move properly through the system.
On the dip stick, under the drivers seat, it reads that the fluid is at the necessary level.
Thanks

All of the TD24's had gear drive transmissions but some had converters with a master clutch and some just a master clutch.
The transmisssions between the two were not the same however. I believe the converter machines had less gears than the ones without.
You need to determine if it has a torque converter or not. It may have something to do with it not moving.
good luck

I was able to get the dozer to move this afternoon. However, when the dozer is under load, such as going up a hill, it stops. I am thinking that the clutch is slipping and needs to be adjusted. I have the manual and will follow this information.
Thanks,
David

David as the other poster has stated there are a few td24s out there that had a torque convertor. Now the strange thing some of those used the diesel fuel for fluid. If you have that unit and don't getting diesel fuel to the torque it would be lazy or not move. Idle the unit BEFOR shutting it off hot.

Is it possible that you have oil collecting in the housing surrounding the main clutch?
There should be at least one hole on the bottom to make sure that any engine oil that may seep past a leaky rear main seal drips out on the ground, and does not accumulate.
Can you take off the inspection plate, and do a visual inspection of the clutch?
