Steering issue 931B?

I think I finally have the fuel problem solved so on to the next issue. I had both brakes working great but late last year the left brake started acting up. What's odd is the right brake has a flat spot on the roller for the steering clutch valve and the left brake doesn't unless is wore down evenly. I shortened the linkage to get the left brake to kind of work (cause I had a job to do and had help)but I think the problem is more with the steering clutch. If the steering clutches aren't fully engaging, does that make the brakes not want to do much? In Reverse the left will work after a couple seconds but it's almost like a delay before it grabs and you have to push it all the way to the floor. Can the steering clutch valves stick and should having new rollers installed get the brakes working good again?

You can't adjust the steering linkage for roller wear. The cam will only push the valve so far then it's concentric. You need to take both steering valves out and replace the rollers on the valve spool ends. Then when reinstalled adjust the steering rods so there is 0.027" clearance between the cam and the roller. Then adjust the brakes as tight as you can, and make sure there is no peddal travel. If there is, back off the adjustment 1 1/2 turns and shorten the brake links as short as you can and still get the pins in. Then adjust brake bands to get correct peddal height. After this the machine should steer with a light toe pressure.

Thanks Bob. I need to dig a hole first to pump water into but I guess taking the steering valves off is next on the agenda.
