Correction 1970 Cat D6C Value + Pins/sprockets question

Looking at a 70 D6C that has significant wear on pins and sprockets. Still runs ok and tracks function ok, but wondering about cost to repair and value as is?

Any help / advice appreciated.

What are the bottom rollers, top carrier rollers, pads and idlers like? To do everything could cost over $10,000. Hard to say a value but they were a good machine.

Most Cat or Deere construction dealers have someone who will inspect undercarriages,as do shops that do undercarriage work. They will give an accurate estimate of the condition of the whole undercarriage, including pin and bushing wear,sprocket wear,roller condition etc.
If the rollers and idlers are only partially worn, and the pins and bushings haven't been turned,and there is decent rail height,you may luck out and get by with a pin and bushing turn and a new set of sprockets, which will give you about 2000 hours of operational life before a major expense depending on the soil conditions you operate in.
If nothing else the inspection report will give you a good bargaining chip to negotiate a price on the tractor as well as knowing what kind of life the bottom has left in it and what you will need to spend.

At a wag I"d say you"re looking at 10-20 to do the carriadge over, depending on what it needs. If you have to change bottom rollers and track pads you can plan on the upper end. I doubt you"d get more than 20K for a 6C with a new carriadge so I"d plan my offer around that... The rest of it is just an old dozer. 5-10K top should buy it.
