could someone please help me? i bought a 74 model 580b with 1400 auctual hours, it had not been started for 2 years, fired right up runs great problem is no steering.. sent steering pump to hyd. rebuild shop they said it had been run dry of oil and beyond repair found a used one put it on now it will barley steer with front wheels off the ground. can or should the releif valve inside the resevoir be adjusted? if so where do i start or should i send it to repair shop for proper setting? doesen't seem to be mush pressure when i disconnect any line at cylinder or spool. anything else i need to do or check?

thanks in advance i'm new here great fourm with lots of help

If you didn't get any info on the condition of pump #2 maybe you
have to get it tested. Initially after install you may have some issue
with air in the system but steering from side to side (all the way)
with engine running and wheels off the ground would get the oil in
and the air out....they usually respond fairly quickly.

thanks for the reply Eric
man i got pump said it worked fine when he took it off and woulld give my money back if it didn't work but he's 3 hours away. i took line off at spool valve and get very little oil flow. took pump off and trying to find repair shop for test and or repair. i did get steering with tires off the ground but it was very slow.

I passed on a 580 D extendahoe because of poor jerky steering problem , what a mistake I made , because I learned later that the problem was only the hyd oil filter exploded and plugged the system . I could of had that machine for 3 grand :)
