anyone know of a place to get a used radiator or a cheap core for mine.. its a d5 84h cat.. ropls said my core is rotted and quated 2000 to fix it with steel core.. I about fell over

I would not go with a steel core. Many years ago I was talked into buying a steel core for my D4. It started cooling system problems that continue to this day. I replaced it with a nice brass core out of a 5T D4 but the fan took out that one. Now I have a core out of an RD 4 in it. It cools well. You can"t buy a new core like Cat used any more at any price. Your Cat is newer but I would try to find a used one and have it cleaned and checked at a radiator shop. There are guys at ACMOC that have been getting cores for a somewhat reasonable price but they are not as good as the original.

Don't know where your at but give the guys at Bullocks a call. They have been doing radiators for me for many years and, in my opinion, are the best around, and have always been fair with me on pricing. That said the larger radiators are going to be expensive so the $2000 might not be a bad price. When you take into account the cost to tear the old one down, clean up the parts, reassemble, and pressure check the new one, the labor alone adds up quick. Add in the cost of the core and the price just keeps rising.

Hope these guys can help you out. Here is their info. Bullocks Radiator 2640 N Graham St Charlotte, NC 28206

man them boys were high to.. does anyone else have anyone or seen one of these machine that is being junked

Sorry to hear they couldn't do you any better. I've worked on equipment all my life and I see people all the time having to repair a machine that cost less for them to buy than just the cost of the repair. I guess you could say it's an extreem case of sticker shock. Like I have told many of them after I give them the price of a repair, "That's why I work on them and don't own them."

That said, good luck finding what you need. I didn't think about it the other night but you might try giving Offroad Equipment a call and see if they have a new OEM, or an aftermarket core for you. Too there are places like Iron Peddlers outside of Monroe, and Construction Equipment Parts in Goldston NC, along with many others that sell used parts. I know IP has a web site, and I think CEP has one too. Give both of them a shout and see if they can help. Good luck.

Try G & G Kline in PA (814) 765 - 2271 they have a free world wide parts locator system, good people to deal with!
