I borrowed the piston/pump removal tool (8S2244). Is it ok to remove the #2 piston on the pump directly to check for any wear, or are there steps to the removal/installation process that you would advise doing first. It looks pretty straight forward, but I am worried looks may be deceiving.

Tim, you can buy a spring if that is all you need. First take the big plate off and see what is wrong. Then you can take out the #2element. You need to take it apart to change the spring if it is needed. Get a dish of fuel, the parts will get dirty from you handeling them, wash off and assemble the barrel and plunger under fuel to keep clean. Later Bob

Here is what I found in the pump. Looks like the plunger sheared off. The spring was good. My problem is I cannot get the bonnet off the #2 pump piston. I have the 8S2244 extractor and the 8T5287 wrench, but neither of these fit over the 25mm? bonnet. Does anyone know what tool is needed for the bonnet for that pump?
