case 310-G track problem

I have a little Case 310-G crawler/loader and it has a tendency to throw tracks. It always comes off the front idler (can be either side). The rear sprockets have been replaced so are in good shape but the front idlers are original I think. The chains are original but have new pins/bushings. I have been running the tracks tighter than normal... about as tight as I dare now but they still may go, although not as often.
I was considering building up the center height of the front idler which I assume would limit the chain from jumping the center of the idler. I am wondering if this would help.
Otherwise replace the front idlers??
Any thoughts would be apreciated.

Are your idlers running straight with the sprockets? What are your rollers like? If the idler is loose on the shaft and moving around could cause the track to come off as could worn out bottom rollers. Running the tracks too tight will wear out the undercarriage real fast. Idlers are usually built up where the rails run and then the center to match the original profile.

i had one of these lil case 310s but mine was a dozer.. was a tough lil dozer but i felt like it needed more weight because it would spin the tracks befor it would bog the motor.. mine threw tracks also. my idles were wore out.. i welded up my shafts turn them down and took a some flat steel and cut rings to weld onto the idlers.. then took a strip and welded it to the center all the way around the idler.. that was my fix to building up the idler.. seem to work just fine for me..

Check all the rollers. I have had problems like yours and found two rollers with the bearings gone. It is surprising how much bad rollers can affect the way the tracks run.
