Gehl HL4400 Hyd Valve

Got a new to me Gehl HL4400. Everything works well, but the bucket will creep up when trying to put down pressure on it. Makes it kind of hard to back drag this way. Holds fine in the up position, but not down, as in trying to raise the front wheels up, so pretty sure problem has to be in the valve, right?
Waiting on manuals to come from Ebay.
Never been into one of these, but plenty of other valves. Anything to know, or that I might have overlooked?
Found a NOS valve for $225, so replacement may be the best option.
Any thoughts?

First thing to check is bucket cylinder seals.
Depending on the type of seals, they could leak one
way and not the other.

There is a company, German Bliss, that has an on line parts diagram for your machine. It could be of some help in a tear down of the control valve.

I will bet it is NOT in the valve itself but in the linkage. Vale is not centering. Has trash under the spool. Simple fix. Doubt you need a valve.

Have removed all linkage and verified spool is centering. Need to reverse hoses to eliminate internal leakage in the cylinders next. Probably wait until manuals arrive before going any further.

Unless the front end of your tractor is heavy enough to pull the cylinder rods out of cylinder when the front end of tractor has wheels of the ground (very unlikely) then your valve is leaking.

Bottom rods in cylinders, remove base end hoses and cap hoses, pressurize rod end and see how much fluid is bypassing pistons.
