Batteries were hooked up backward, then tried to jump start. Now batteries are hooked right but blowing a fuse every time switch is turned to start. Replaced original ingition switch with a new one but blows fuse with either switch. 5 wires in ignition switch plug and 3 of the 5 are going to ground according to my ohmmeter???

Alternators are polarity sensitive and connecting the batteries the wrong way round can damage them, take the wire/s off and tape them up and see if the fuse holds when you switch on,an ohmmeter will give a reading if the wire say is a supply to a bulb, relay or motor etc it does not mean the wire is grounding, try the wires off the alternator, was it ok before this happened.
