| Steering problems were prevalent on the 444-644 loader series tractors.. Steering would sometimes take off on it's own on start-up.. A mild jerk is somewhat "normal".. Sometimes bleeding the steering valve would take care of the problem for a while..Another slight problem is an out of balance condition sometimes accompanied by the smell of hot rubber..This is caused by the rubber dampers on the flywheel coming apart.. These can be changed by removing the seat and sheetmetal behind the seat, removing driveshaft and rear drive cover on the "clutch housing" of the engine..One other thing is many people don't grease the axles on these machines.. There is a plug on the end of the axle tube right behind the axle flange on each axle.. If these never got greased, there is a possibility of outer bearing failures..Look them over closely..Other than that......Not a bad loader |

| Any information? O.K., don't say John Deere Payloader. Payloader was registered by Frank J. Hough Company, which later became International Harvester |
