O.K. After a year chasing leads I finely found a nice DW 10 east of the Mississippi River. Usual no breaks and pony does not run but good rubber and sheet metal. First question is there a site where I can get the specs. like how long, how wide and weight. Second question guy is calling the scraper part a 15 yard unit. Was the little trailer that dumps out the bottom a cat sold unit or aftermarket and what are the chances of finding one of those. I think that would suit my use more as I plan on loading the unit with trackhoe anyway.

The early DW10 from the early 40's was 15180 lbs, 68" gauge with 18 x 24 rear tires. The fifth wheel trailer was 10350 lbs 8 1/3 yard struck, 11 yds heaped. Unit had 5 forward and 1 reverse speeds. They are not easy to find.

DGH You would not happen t know the model or what the 5th wheel trailer for hauling dirt was.
That is going to be my next search. Trying to find something on overall length but think I can haul the DW10 & attached Pan all at one trip.

The trailer was the W10 Wagon. From the picture the tractor length is 4 times the tire diameter, if that helps any.

Found some more. There were 3 models, Early 1N**** serial numbers built 41 to 46, 100 HP. 15' 0" long 7' 4" wide 5" 8" high 15180. The next 6V**** built 46 & 47 were same but 750 lbs heavier.
The last 1V**** built 47 to 52 were 115 HP 15" 5" long 7" 8" wide same heigth. Weight 17440 lbs

D Thanks for all the work.. I suspect the 15 ft long is the tractor without the scraper but have a machinery hauler that is 43 ft. over all so think I can get it . I can scale close to 26 tons so should be any problem. Surly the total width will not be over 8ft 6 in wide.

Yes those are for the tractor only. For the 1V & 3C scraper of 47 to 51 length is 37" 0" width 9" 11" height 8' 10" weight is 36,000 lbs. For later 1V and 19C scraper Length is 35' 2" width is 9' 5" heigth is 7' 9" weight 34,000 lbs.

This is easy when you have a CAT book!

Were did you find one? A guy near me in central il has 2, one is an ex army machine and the other is a scraper. Neither one has run in 15 years. He has a few acres of old rare equipment that he won't sell, but every now and then he gets out the torch and starts cutting and hauling to the scrap yard. Several people have offered well over scrap value in cash and he still hauls everything to the junk man. I have seen him cut up a running machine and haul it in.

Just about in the middle of Ky. Man (individual farmer) has it and ran it up until about three years ago. All and all pretty nice unit. Looks like I may have lucked up seeing how some one has one over on the cat site for sale at $ 7500.00.
I plan on getting it in here next week if the weather does not get too bad.
