LJD Question

JD, I didn't know if you read my question to you below.The fellow below was asking about an in frame rebuild for his OC crawler. You explained about cylinders that have in sleeve and some without sleeves.I was wondering if that information was available in the Hercules engine book,which we have one, but it doesn't say anything about what you explained.
WE would like to keep up with anything current, in case we have to get into it further down the road.I would appreciate the information,maybe we could download it and print it out if it's available. Thanking you in advance,for your time.

I don't have any of it in digital form. Just the original Hercules dealer books. Parts book is "Hercule GO-DD Series, three, four and six cylinder, gasoline and diesel engines, April, 1958." Canton, Ohio - book part # 205021. Covers the 130,149,169,173,198,169,260,298, and 339. Also have the operators manual just for the DD series dies dated June, 1958. Covers the 130,149, 169, 173, 198, 169, 260, 298, and 339. Book # 2M-6-58-7054. Also a newer color one page supplement for the DD-149H and the D-169H, bulletin # D-306C. Dated December, 1959.

The Hercules parts book shows the gas engine available with sleeves or without. Uses the same block as the diesel. Maybe the Oliver book doesn't show that because Oliver only ordered one way? I never had the head off of mine (yet) so I don't know if it's sleeved or not.

Parts book is 44 pages. Sometime when I'm stuck inside I might be able to scan it for you and send in JPGs. Or -if you want to pay - I could drop it off at Office Max sometime and have them copy it. I suspect they'd charge around $20.

In the parts book, Hercules uses a letter code for certain parts depending on what company was using their engines. If an Oliver engine . . the code is "K."

C is Cocshutt
D is Coles Crane
E is Contractors Machinery
F is Frazier Wright Co.
G is Gardner-Denver Corp
H is Gerlinger Carrier Corp
I is Frank G. Hough Co.
J is Lull Engineering Co.

N is Stardrill-Keystone Co.
O is Worthington Corp

The gas engine GO130 and the diesel engine DD-130 use the same block and crank. Main bearing are different though.

I want to thank you for the information, I thought it might have been a book that we missed in ordering for ours.I wouldn't want you to have to have your book taken apart for scanning,as it just might not be returned to you in the same shape or might have pages missing,that can't be replaced.

I doubt we would have a call for it, as so far it is running great,I just thought it might be available on the internet and we were looking in the wrong places.

We have the Hercules Operators Manual GO Series from JenSales #HE-O-GO SERIES(part# 205022A), the Shop manual from Oliver OC-4 and OC-46( issued 6-1-64),and the parts Book OC-4 Tractor Series "B" Industrial (issued 11-15-63).

As always I have printed out the information you have provided to the original poster and us for future reference, and truly thank you for the information.

O. K. For both Lou & LJD. 5 different versions of the 130 engines were used. Two versions of the diesels. They are the DD-10 and the DD-=130 H. They all had cylinder sleeves. Oliver part number for the sleeves was 605 544FS. This also included the locating dowel part number 53 935. Gas tractors had 3 different engines. They were the GO-130, GO 130H and GO 130X8 Tractors with a GO 130X8 engine have the cylinder sleeves. This became effective with engine number 375 3334. These are all Charles City built Series B tractors.

LJD: FYI for you, They also made a 212 cubic inch version (3.875 bore) of the DD 198 for late OC-9 & OC-96 Oliver crawlers and loaders.

Rather than scanning as .jpg's think about getting a copy of Paperport (and I'm not on a spotter's fee!). This lets you scan bulk pages and then save them as .pdf (or other formats).

Probably other software will do similar, but our version came with a printer.
