Toolbar Dozers

I've been looking at ads on I-net & occasionally come across an ad that states "toolbar" dozer. I've run a few dozers in my time - D3's, D8 cable dozers, HD21's, Traxcavators with blades, etc. & I have never heard the term "toolbar" used. WHAT PRECISELY DOES THIS TERM REFER TO ?

It has a set up, that allows the tool bar to be mounted in front or back, to run various implements. Used a lot in Wa state, on steep slopes, as I recall. I think there was also just a rear mounted tool bar, too. Can't remember where I saw the pictures.

Generally when I hear somebody talk about a toolbar on a dozer it is a rear beam that can be raised and lowered either hydraulically or by cable. You can put different things on the bar from a single ripper shank, to many smaller shanks for a root rake, etc.

But over the years terms like that have come to mean different things to different people in different areas.

Cat sold a toolbar set up for D2, D4 and D6 tractors. They were reversable so the arms could be swung around and mount a blade on the front or toolbar on the back.

THANK YOU everyone for your response. I now have a little better understanding of what is meant by "tool-bar" on a Dozer.

THANKS AGAIN !
