I have an old crossmotor that I purchased 30 years ago. I was told it was the larger model but don't have any other information on it. The tractor is very complete and all the sheet metal is in restorable condition. Engine is stuck. Can anyone tell me what models were made and what is a restored crossmotor worth? Thanks!

The 22/40 & 25/45 are woth about 15k and 10K unrestored reprectively
Restored about 30 and 20. But you must have a good manifold. New one about 3500.
I need a carb for a 22/40 if you have a spare i would be interested.
if its a 40/72, then you can retire.
Have a friend in Ireland who has a case 22/40 & a 25/45

The larger cross-motors are worth a pretty good sum of money, yet that highly depends on completeness and condition, as parts are hard to find and often have to be reproduced. I would be interested in looking at picutres of the tractor, and maybe visiting with you. Please call me at (580)370-1473, or send your e-mail address. I have some parts maybe, and like to talk about these unique tracotrs.

As for the models, there was a 9-18 that became the 10-18, and then 12-20 and model A. These are the smallest. The medium sized tractors were the 15-27 which became the 18-32 and then K. The larger ones were the 22-40 then 25-45, then the T. The largest, of which only 40 or so were made, is the 40-72. The three wheeled 10-20 was also a crossmotor.

There was a prdecessaor to the 22-40 that is even rarer than the 40-72 because only 10 were built. It was called the 20-36. The late Oscar Cooke at Billings MT had one that he found within an hour's drive SE of Billings. I have no idea where it ended up when his collection was
broken up by his heirs.
THere may be one other in existence; an aquaintance down in Nebraska told me once he has one but I've never seen it.

Interesting. Now you've stimulated more research. Look into it and find out more if you can. I have read nothing about the 20-36. I don't doubt the existence though. I'd love to get a picture.

J.I. Case crossmotor tractors were built from 1912 to 1928 according to Letourneaus' "Illustrated Buyers' Guide - CASE Tractors". The book has pictures of the various models along with specifications and production numbers. Click on the link below for ordering info.
