Figuring out gauges and wiring on my 351. Oil pressure gauge was easy. Water temp seems to come out of middle of head on the right side. But what is the thing on the left side of the head looking like a sending unit with 2 wires coming out the top? My books don?t even show such a thing!cant see where the wires go without taking stuff apart.

Good guess...headbolt heater?
Oh, never thought of headbolt heater! It is NW Iowa so you are probably right on that. Haven't found a 350/351 operators manual. I have a 300/400b manual. It shows the tach and speedo in the lube section and there are no cables running to them in the picture, though they certainly look like hard cables should screw in the back. The electric layout is quite complete and it shows no electric to speedo or tach. So I was confused right out of the chute when I saw that thing sticking up. I have no hard cables coming out of the tach and speedo. I thought maybe tach and speedo were electric but it didn't make sense where that thing came out of the engine. I am 99% the head bolt heater will be the final answer. Thanks all.
