Case DC main bearings

Reposting this to the proper forum....Hi, I'm new to your forum. I have an opportunity to buy a 1949 Case DC, non-running with a cracked block. I really enjoy working on old equipment, but in this case I'm trying to determine how treacherous a path I'm heading down. The cracks in the block are extensive and non-repairable involving the water jacket and oil galleries, but it appears that I can obtain an uncracked block from a couple of sources. The rod bearings are babbitt I believe, but the mains are liners. I'm not having any luck locating new liners. What options? Can the crank mains and caps be babbitted instead of using liners? I suppose I could even pour and/or machine my own liners assuming that they are just babbitt? What have others done in this situation?

Thanks!

I just took a oil pan off a DC , and it looks excellent inside, would sell less head but leave all the rotating parts in the block. 507 433 0073
