Time for my occasional post requesting help with my 1030 lol... anyways My 1030 is a western special and has the 23.1-30 monster tires, and I would like to change them to either 18.4-34 or -38's (which one would be best?) is there anyone who would know where to find rims and centers so I can change mine out? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks In advance,
Ryder

Rims for the 34/38 case are just standard double bevel rims like most tractors use and are easy to find. The centers bolt to the hubs from any case with center hubs through the 70 series at least. You should be able to get 34 or 38 castings from either the 30 or 70 series pretty easy. 38" tires fit pretty tight in the fenders tho.

TractorData shows 15.5x38 and 18.4x34 were both available also. I would go with 18.4x34's. 15.5x38's are kinda small for that large of tractor. I've heard too many guys complain about going to 18.4x38's and losing their pulling power. BTO neighbor I worked for got 18.4x34's on ALL his big tractors, 4020 gas & diesels, 4320, 4230 turbo, ran them all as singles, never owned a set of duals when I worked for him from 1968 to about 1976 or '77. His big Case 2470 had 28Lx26 tires on it, rode like a Cadillac across the field chisel plowing.

We always ordered in our 1030's with 18.4x38's. When Case closed out the 30 series, we got several with 23.1x30's They worked well for everything but moldboard plowing.

If your 1030 is a western special it has the big fenders on it. You will be happiest with 18.4 X 38?s there is enough room. As others said take your cast centers off and replace them with the centers for the 38? rims. Any centers off 730-1030 or 770- 1070 will work. Keep your clamps that are on the axle as they are different on different models.
