1030 Case remote valve shimms

Anyone know how much of a pressure increase one .020 shim makes? The old boy is a little low, 1250 pounds right now, lifts slow. Thanks

I can't find a spec on the shims, but for the shims to do any good, the pump must be able to build pressure in the 1st place. With pressure that low, I suspect a problem, hopefully a broken relief valve spring. An inspection of the relief valve is in order. The slow action could also be a symptom of a plugged screen. The proper way to test is to do a pump flow & pressure test.

John, when I bought the tractor the remotes wouldn't lift anything, pulled the remote valve off, discovered it had an internal crack, got a valve off of a 1070 and put it on worked great but had to always pull the lever back to neutral position or it would keep trying to raise (building pressure). Took a pretty good pull to get it back to neutral position. So I got a remote valve off of a non running 1030, put it on and it has low pressure. I don't have a way to check flow, just assumed it was good because the other valve worked good.

Sounds like you have a weak pump, reason, oil bypassing the open relief valve releases the spool holding plungers and your is not doing that, Is it a lot better with cold oil and loses pressure as it warms up? You may be better off to hire a flow test done as you are just shooting in the dark without it.
