1570 won't go into gear

We recently rebuilt the power shift in our case 1570. We bought the tractor with a broken planetary, input shaft, and torque limiter. Now that the tractor is back together, the tractor will not shift into gear, only grinds. When the clutch pedal is pushed down the engine makes the normal laborous sound. We are getting 180 psi at the c-4 port. Has anyone else had a similar experience? The tractor has all new fluid and filters, but the filter gauge stays in the yellow.

You must take a pressure reading of C2 clutch down then clutch up. There should be no pressure with the clutch depressed and full system pressure released, If you have these pressures it sounds like the C2 clutch has major damage, If C2 is badly warped and dragging that is the clutch combination that gives reverse.

Thanks for reply. Here is where we are at. With clutch pedal pushed down c4 tests 185psi and c2 drops off to zero. We replaced the c1&c4
discs, friction plate, and ring gear drum. C2&c3 seem to check out ok. We resealed the Pistons as well. transmission filter pressure still in the yellow unless rpms are increased to 1500. Tractor has new fluid and filters.

When you loaded the C2/c3 drums did all the parts drop right in, and did they all fit together without forcing anything?

With the correct pressure on C2 and C4 as noted one would have to assume some other reason the clutches are dragging. If the unit was dismantled and reassembled there is a very good possibility something did not go together correctly. I would check all the circuits first to confirm there are no hyd pressure issues. If all is good then a mechanical drag would have to be present causing the grinding problem. Rod.

Thank you everyone for the helpful tips! After testing the circuits and inspecting the valve body parts, everything seems to be functioning properly. We resplit the tractor to inspect possible damage to the c2 clutches and found possibly the slightest warpage of the c2 plates, the frictions look ok. Could this cause our problem of not going into gear? Can I just replace the plates if the frictions appear ok? Would any of this have anything to do with the low filter pressure reading?
