Will a 930 diesel starter work on a 930 gas?

I do not think so. Diesel to diesel and gas to gas.

no the ring gear is Different .730-830-930 Gas are the same /not for sure 770-870-970 gas being the same /

My 930 Gas uses an MT10 starter with 9 tooth starter drive. The brushes, brush springs, bushing and brush holders including the starter drive is available for that starter. The parts are not that expensive. The last brushes i bought for a 930 gas starter were less than a $1 each the others parts were all less than a dollar each. The starter drive is also a common number and the last one i bought was around $24 New not rebuilt.

I used to buy starter parts from National Automotive lines out of Shelbyville Indiana. You must call them with the Starter number to get the right parts.
